Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 08/16/2012

Compared to last week: Feeder and stocker cattle trend not applicable due to the limited comparable sales, however a firm undertone was noted. Feeding cows lightly tested. The bulk of breaker and boner slaughter cows sold 7.00 to 9.00 lower with lean cows 3.00 to 5.00 lower. The bulk of slaughter bulls sold 8.00 lower. Demand was moderate. Near 68 percent feeder and stocker cattle; 25 percent slaughter cows; 6 percent slaughter bulls with the balance misc. cattle.
Of the feeder cattle supply, steers made up near 63 percent; heifers made up 37 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled 79 percent. All bred stock sold by the head and pairs sold per pair, unless otherwise stated. All bred cows and heifers represented to calve before May 15th, unless otherwise stated.
